Hampton Inn
Quakertown, PA
Well, I arrived in Quakertown, PA yesterday
after spending the last week just outside of Fort Bragg, NC at survival
school. It was an interesting
experience, but I am glad it is over. I
am looking forward to getting back into the cockpit and receiving the flight
training in the S-61.
While at survival training (conducted by
Gryphon Group Security Solutions, Inc), we had a lot of interesting classes and
also had several field operations in addition to our range time with our
assigned weapons. I will be carrying
both an M-9 (9mm Beretta pistol) and and M-4 (collapsible M-16) while in
Afghanistan, so I qualified on both.
I’ve still got the skillz, people.
After almost 30 years (since basic training at Ft. Leonardwood, MO), I
again scored expert on both the M-4 and M-9.
From various ranges, with both weapons, out of 80 possible points I got
77……seventy-seven hits with eighty shots (40 with rifle and 40 with pistol. It was fun; I hadn’t had the opportunity to shoot
much at all in the last 10 or 15 years.
After arriving in Philly, I got the rental
car and proceeded to fight rush hour traffic north for the next 3 hours. Normally, it should have been about a one
hour drive, oh well. The hotel is nice;
it has an indoor pool, exercise room, large sitting area with a fireplace in
the lobby. The rooms are modern and the
king-size mattress is perfect….nice and firm.
The hotel is located in a nice area with restaurants close by, but not
otherwise congested. The Wal-mart and
movie theater is only 5 or 6 miles down the road with lots of stores and
shopping centers available to spend money.
Still getting settled in……till later, but
careful out there….
My new house for a while. It really is a nice setting for a hotel.
